Polish retail sales 4.4% up y/y in January: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went up by 4.4 percent in January at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office reported on Monday.

Sales of of textiles, clothing and footwear soared by 17.6 percent in January in year-on-year terms, and those of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics shot by 10.5 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 3.9 percent higher than in January 2025, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in January were 17.8 percent lower than in December, the peak season for retailers, the statistics office also reported.
