Employment down, wages up in Polish firms y/y in February: stats office

Employment in Polish companies dropped by 0.8 percent in February on average in year-on-year terms, the country’s statistics office has reported.

Meanwhile, average wages in Poland's corporate sector increased by 6.1 percent in February compared with the same month a year earlier, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

The average gross Polish monthly wage last month was PLN 9,135.69 (EUR 2,130, USD 2,450), according to the statistical office.

The figures are for companies with more than nine employees.

Statistics Poland reported earlier this month that Poland's unemployment rate had inched up to 6.1 percent in February, from 6 percent in January.

The country's minimum monthly wage increased 3 percent at the start of January to PLN 4,806 (EUR 1,135, USD 1,340), from PLN 4,666 in 2025.
