There were around 950,900 people without jobs across the nation at the end of March, down by 4,100 from a month earlier, according to the government.

The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUS) reported last month that the Polish jobless rate had risen to 6.1 percent in February, from 6.0 percent in January.

Meanwhile, the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated this month that unemployment in Poland had stood at 3.2 percent in February, marking the lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc, alongside Bulgaria and Czechia.
