The vehicle is slated to transport cargo to low Earth orbit and the International Space Station.

Company representatives have described Nyx as a modular, reusable craft intended to serve as a European counterpart to American cargo vehicles.

The spacecraft can launch on multiple rockets, dock with orbital stations and refuel in space, giving it a wide operational range.

Nyx will be able to carry up to four metric tons of cargo and return three tons—more than any comparable vehicle currently in service.

Future missions are expected to extend beyond low Earth orbit, including operations in cislunar space—the region between Earth and the moon—and potential landings on the moon.

As part of the program, Sener Polska will deliver two key docking systems that will allow Nyx to safely connect to orbital stations and detach after mission completion.

The first system is scheduled for a mission early next year, with the second set for delivery in 2028.

The Polish team will oversee the full development cycle, including design, production, assembly and testing in line with European Space Agency standards.

“Docking systems are critical for every space mission,” said Mateusz Krakowczyk, project manager at Sener Polska.

He added: “They ensure operational safety and enable uninterrupted transfer of resources between vehicles. For a program like Nyx, that means creating solutions that can function repeatedly across multiple mission cycles.”

The technologies developed for Nyx are expected to support future commercial projects as Europe’s space sector expands.

“Designing systems that work across many scenarios, not just one program, is essential today,” said Sener Polska CEO Jakub Pierzchała.

“This strategy helps us build long‑term business value and expand our commercial offerings with proven solutions,” he added.

Sener Polska is the Polish subsidiary of Spanish aerospace and engineering group Sener.
