Polish retail sales 3% up y/y in May: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went up by 3 percent in May at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office has reported.

Sales of fuels increased by 9.9 percent last month in year-on-year terms, and those of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics rose by 9.3 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics went up by 4.5 percent, and those of clothing and shoes rose 3.8 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 4.4 percent higher than in May 2025, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in May were 1.7 percent lower than in April, the statistics office also reported.
