In Poland, low water levels in the Vistula River have forced two coal-fired power plants to scale back electricity generation.
On Wednesday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk sought to reassure the public, saying the country's electricity system remains fully under control and that there is no risk of blackouts or need to draw on emergency reserves.
"I've been assured that Poland's electricity grid operators do not expect to activate a capacity market mechanism for now," Tusk said.
"It may sound technical, but it simply means that, according to experts, there is currently no need to call on reserve capacity to boost electricity production," he added.
