Polish unemployment up to 5.9% in July: gov't

Poland’s unemployment rate edged up to 5.8 percent in July, from 5.9 percent in June, the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy said on Friday.

There were around 907,300 people without jobs across the nation at the end of July, up by 5,800 from a month earlier, according to the government.

The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUSreported last month that the Polish jobless rate had fallen to 5.8 percent in June, from 5.9 percent in May.

Meanwhile, the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated last month that unemployment in Poland had stood at 3.1 percent in June, marking one of the lowest rates in the 27-nation bloc.
