Przemysław Kral has been granted "small crown witness" status under Poland's law — a mechanism that allows for reduced punishment in exchange for disclosing information.
He has been formally charged, though the specifics have not been made public.
According to TVP Info, Kral's testimony could prove damaging to a number of Polish right-wing politicians.
Zondacrypto, now defunct, was the main sponsor of a CPAC conference during President Karol Nawrocki's election campaign and provided funds for conservative news channel Telewizja Republika.
Kral is alleged to have made payments to a foundation linked to former justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro.
His testimony reportedly also covers Zondacrypto's sponsorship of the Polish Olympic Committee.
Kral took over as head of the exchange, then known as BitBay, in 2021 from its founder, Sylwester Suszek, who disappeared in March 2022 under unexplained circumstances and has not been found since.
Zondacrypto collapsed in April after customers were unable to withdraw money invested in crypto assets, with total losses estimated at PLN 350 million (EUR 81 million).
Nawrocki has vetoed legislation to regulate Poland's cryptocurrency market three times.
