More foreign workers in Poland: stats office

Around 1,152,700 foreign workers were employed in Poland at the end of March, 8 percent more than a year earlier, the national statistics office has reported.

The number marked an increase of 1.8 percent from the previous month, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

These foreign workers hailed from more than 150 countries, with 68 percent coming from Ukraine, data showed.

Belarusians accounted for 10.5 percent of the foreign workforce, followed by Indian nationals at 2 percent.

Georgians and Colombians each represented 1.8 percent of the total labour force, while Filipinos made up 1.3 percent.
