Poland’s Orlen, Ukraine’s Naftogaz sign memoranda on LNG, oil product supplies

Poland’s Orlen and Ukraine’s Naftogaz Group signed two memoranda during the Carpathian Eight Summit, covering LNG and oil product supplies, diversification of supply routes and support for energy supply stability in Ukraine and the region.

Under the first memorandum, Orlen and Naftogaz will explore the possibility of supplying three LNG cargoes in Q1 2027.

The second memorandum concerns potential cooperation between Orlen and Ukrnafta, a Naftogaz Group company, on supplying petroleum products to the Ukrainian market.

Naftogaz says the Ukrnafta agreement could involve up to USD 500 million (EUR 425 million) worth of petroleum products supplied to Ukraine.

The companies will also explore the possibility of supplying Ukrainian crude oil for processing at refineries in Central Europe.

“Cooperation with Ukraine is an important part of Orlen’s commitment to the energy security of Central and Eastern Europe,” Orlen CEO Ireneusz Fąfara said.

He added that Orlen sees this cooperation as a long-term partnership that serves the interests of both companies.

“In light of the ongoing Russian attacks on our domestic production facilities, it is particularly important for us to secure reliable sources of gas supplies and diversified supply routes,” Naftogaz acting CEO Sergii Fedorenko said.
