The new station operates 24 hours a day and serves passenger cars, buses and heavy vehicles.

The station is supplied with hydrogen from Orlen's hydrogen hub in Włocławek, central Poland.

"Hydrogen is gaining increasing importance in transport, which is why we are systematically developing infrastructure that allows us to harness its potential in various segments of the market," said Grzegorz Jóźwiak, Orlen’s executive director for biofuels and hydrogen.

He said the Gorzów Wielkopolski station was another step in expanding Orlen's public hydrogen network and that the company was preparing further locations in other cities and along major transport routes.

The station was built as part of the second stage of the Clean Cities – Hydrogen Mobility in Poland project, co-financed by the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility – Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility.

Orlen's existing hydrogen stations in the country are in the cities of Poznań, Katowice, Wałbrzych, Włocławek, Piła, Płock and Gdynia.

The company is preparing further locations, including Warsaw, Kraków and Bielsko-Biała. As part of the third stage of the Clean Cities project, it is also working on stations in Gdańsk, Szczecin, Rzeszów and Łódź.

Refuelling a passenger car takes up to five minutes, while buses and heavy vehicles take up to 15 minutes.

The new station can serve around 30 passenger cars and 10 buses per day.
