Friendship with Warsaw will continue: mayor of London

Friendship between London and Warsaw will continue despite the UK’s potential departure from the EU this year, the mayor of the British capital has said.

London mayor Sadiq Khan visited Poland at the weekend for ceremonies marking 80 years since the beginning of World War II.

At a press conference with his Warsaw counterpart Rafał Trzaskowski on Monday, Khan told reporters he did not support the UK's departure from the EU and that he still hoped it would not happen, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

But if it did, he added, London would remain a very European city and would continue its friendship with Warsaw.

The UK’s planned exit from the European Union is scheduled October 31.
