The study by consulting firm Deloitte found that the average Polish consumer plans to fork out PLN 1,521 (EUR 354, USD 392) on gifts, food and family gatherings this Christmas.
A quarter of respondents indicated they would buy Christmas presents in November, taking advantage of Black Friday deals.
The Deloitte study also showed that online stores were likely to claim almost half the funds Poles were setting aside for Christmas gifts, while cosmetics, perfumes and chocolates were expected to be the most popular presents this year.
Danuta Isler spoke to Jan Kisielewski, director at Deloitte's Strategy Department and a co-author of the report, to find out more.
