Over 11 million COVID-19 shots administered in Poland: gov't data

A total of 11,081,369 COVID-19 vaccine shots have been administered in Poland so far, including a record 331,457 over the last 24 hours, officials announced on Thursday.

Public health authorities said that 6,996 adverse reactions had been reported among those who received the vaccines by Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, a total of 11,313 doses have been wasted in the rollout, according to the Polish health ministry.

As of Thursday, Poland had injected over 8.3 million first doses, while more than 2.85 million people have received a second shot, health ministry data showed.

Officials on Thursday posted a photo of Health Minister Adam Niedzielski receiving his first dose of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine as part of the national inoculation campaign.

Poland on Thursday reported 8,427 new coronavirus infections and 541 more deaths, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,785,353 and fatalities to 67,073.
