Nearly 24.5 million COVID-19 shots administered in Poland: gov't data

A total of 24,470,301 COVID-19 vaccine shots have been administered in Poland so far, including 96,862 over the last 24 hours, officials announced on Monday.

Public health authorities said that 10,803 adverse reactions had been reported among those who received the vaccines by Monday morning.

Meanwhile, a total of 21,182 doses have been wasted in the rollout, according to the Polish health ministry.

As of Monday, Poland had injected over 15.5 million first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, while more than 9.7 million people had been fully inoculated, health ministry data showed.

The tally includes two-dose vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca as well as Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine.

Children aged 12 to 15 have been given the green light to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in Poland as the country ramps up its inoculation campaign.

Poland on Monday reported 140 new coronavirus infections and one more death, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,877,608 and fatalities to 74,574.
