Farewell to Polish ‘first lady of the ocean’
Captain Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz, a Polish sailor who made history by becoming the first woman to circumnavigate the globe single-handedly, has died at the age of 84.

A traveller and a naval architect, Chojnowska-Liskiewicz was often referred to as "the first lady of the ocean."
She carried out her solo around-the-world trip on a 31-foot yacht called Mazurek that was designed by her husband Wacław Liskiewicz.
