Over 25 million COVID-19 shots administered in Poland: gov't data

A total of 25,058,534 COVID-19 vaccine shots have been administered in Poland so far, including 355,394 over the last 24 hours, officials announced on Wednesday.

Public health authorities said that 11,020 adverse reactions had been reported among those who received the vaccines by Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, a total of 25,038 doses have been wasted in the rollout, according to the Polish health ministry.

As of Wednesday, Poland had injected around 15.66 million first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, while more than 10.2 million people had been fully inoculated, health ministry data showed.

The tally includes two-dose vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca as well as Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine.

Children aged 12 to 15 have been given the green light to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in Poland as the country ramps up its inoculation campaign.

Poland on Wednesday reported 241 new coronavirus infections and 62 more deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,878,061 and fatalities to 74,688.
