He is expected to tour several receiving centers for refugees along the Polish and Slovak borders with Ukraine, as well as in the southern Polish city of Kraków and the capital Warsaw.

The aim of the visit is to demonstrate solidarity with the people displaced by the hostilities and to show gratitude to the caregivers, the priests, sisters and laity who have generously responded in meeting the needs of refugees, according to church officials.

Cardinal Dolan is Chair of the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA), which has so far contributed nearly USD 2 million to provide shelter, clothing, food, medical care and counselling for those affected by the war in Ukraine.
