Przemysław Czarnek has given assurances that Polish schools are prepared to take in more children fleeing the Russian invasion, adding that the presence of Ukrainian pupils will not make any difference in the new school year.

A debate held recently at the Presidential Palace, under the auspices of Polish President Andrzej Duda, explored the most urgent and immediate needs of the education system, such as support for Polish schools and equipping them with the skills needed to teach Ukrainian pupils, officials said.

Discussion also focused on every possible aid to the Ukrainian schoolchildren, many of whom struggle with language barriers or continue with online learning in the Ukrainian system, alongside in-person classes in Polish schools, reporters were told.

Radio Poland’s Agnieszka Bielawska has the story.
