The prestigious La Liste ranking was founded in 2014 by former French diplomat Philippe Faure, following an initiative by the country's foreign ministry.

The ranking is based on a compilation of hundreds of guidebooks, thousands of media publications, and millions of online reviews.

The five Polish restaurants on the list are Epoka in Warsaw’s Raffles Europejski Hotel, with 85 points; Drukarnia Smaku Cristina in the southern Tatra mountain resort of Zakopane (84.50 points); Water & Wine in Drzewce, near Nałęczów, in the country's southeast (75.50); Nolita in Warsaw (75); and Trzy Rybki in the southern city of Kraków (75).

The top place on the global list is held jointly by three restaurants: Frantzén in Stockholm, Sweden; Guy Savoy in Paris; and Le Bernardin in New York, each with 99 points.
