The study by pollster CBOS found that 12 percent of Poles thought Duda had done the most for the country in 2022.

Second place was shared by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and former Prime Minister Donald Tusk, each named by 6 percent of those polled, state news agency PAP reported.

Jarosław Kaczyński, head of the ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, was named by 5 percent, while 4 percent listed Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, a former presidential contender.

Fifty-five percent of respondents said they could not or did not want to point to a figure who deserved the Polish politician of the year title.

And 23 percent said that no politician they knew of had done anything of note.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was named as international politician of the year, with 20 percent voicing admiration for him.
