Poles leaving UK to return home as economy booms: report

Thousands of Poles are leaving Britain and returning home to a booming economy, the tabloid The Sun has reported.

The Polish economy grew 5.1 percent last year and is set to surpass Britain’s by 2030, according to some predictions.

Poland’s capital Warsaw has become a tech hub attracting giants such as Google and Netflix, The Sun reported.

It said many Polish expats were moving back to their home country after years spent in Britain to enjoy lower costs of living and high quality of life.

There are now Facebook groups, forums and blogs about Poles returning home from the UK, the British tabloid reported.

Poland is also the fifth favourite place for UK pensioners to retire to, according to The Sun.

The Polish economy expanded by 5.1 percent in 2022, after growing 6.9 percent in 2021, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said last month, revising upward its previous estimates for both years.

According to a report earlier this month by Britain's The Telegraph newspaper, Poland is on track to become wealthier than Britain by 2030 in terms of GDP per capita at purchasing power parity.
