The rally took place on Sunday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Participants included members of Poland’s Palestinian community and local residents, according to the organisers.

Protesters gathered near King Sigismund III's Column in central Warsaw before marching to the US embassy, flying Palestinian flags and carrying banners.

They chanted “Free Palestine” and “Down with colonialism,” among other slogans.

The rally was “peaceful and incident-free,” Warsaw police said.

Israel’s ambassador to Poland, Yacov Livne, commented on the protest on social media.

He wrote on the X platform: “Sad to see yet another antisemitic demonstration today in Warsaw. Support for Nazi-inspired Hamas jihadists needs to stop. Law enforcement and education are needed.”

Meanwhile, protesters gathered in many European cities at the weekend to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, according to news outlets.

An estimated 30,000 people joined a rally in London, at least 19,000 protested in Paris, while some 17,000 gathered in the German city of Düsseldorf, the PAP news agency reported.

Protests also took place in Berlin, Rome and Milan, as well as in Washington, where thousands voiced their opposition to the Biden administration’s support of Israel, according to reports.

The war between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7 when the Palestinian militant group launched an attack from Gaza that killed over 1,400 people, British broadcaster BBC reported.

Some 240 Israelis were kidnapped as hostages, according to PAP.

Israel has since been bombing Gaza, killing more than 9,700 people, according to the territory’s Hamas-run health ministry.

A ground offensive by Israel has cut the Gaza Strip in two, reaching the Mediterranean coast and completing the encirclement of Gaza City, military officials in Tel Aviv said on Sunday night, according to the BBC.
