During a press conference on Friday, Katarzyna Lubnauer said she hoped the money would be paid out to every Polish teacher by the end of March.

She also added that the salaries are already being paid out by local governments, after the ministry transferred the money in time.

The Polish government has previously said it was to allocate more than PLN 23 billion for pay increases for school and preschool teachers.

After the changes introduced by the government, average salaries under the Teachers' Charter have increased by PLN 1,577 for beginning teachers, PLN 1,720 for certified teachers and PLN 2,198 for appointed teachers. The money is being paid in retrospect from January 1, 2024.

According to the ministry's statement, an increase in base salary also automatically increases the value of some other components of teachers' compensation.
