Local officers clocked the 52-year-old man at 33 km/h over the speed limit in the seaside city of Gdynia.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered his license dated back to the defunct USSR, which ceased to exist in 1991.

Police issued a PLN 800 ($208) speeding fine and referred the case to a local court for driving without valid documentation.

The Soviet license, which expired more than 30 years ago, was deemed invalid.
