“Hey, graduates, no need to panic. Look at me and other politicians. If we, at least most of us, somehow managed to do it, you shouldn’t have any problem. I’m rooting for you!” Tusk wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) profile, one day before the start of the Matura exams.
Matura exams begin May 5 with reduced curriculum for 2025 graduates
Starting on Monday, May 5, 2025, Polish secondary school graduates will begin their Matura exams, beginning with a written Polish language test at the basic level.
The following day, they will face the mathematics exam, followed by foreign languages. Written tests will continue until May 22, with the oral exams scheduled between May 9 and 24.
This year, around 275,000 new graduates will sit for the exams, alongside 49,000 students retaking them.
The good news for this year's candidates is that the exams are expected to be easier than in previous years. Robert Zakrzewski, head of the Central Examination Commission, reassured Polish Radio that a reduction in the curriculum - introduced by Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka - would make the exams less demanding. Around 20% of the curriculum has been removed.
