According to the local daily Dziennik Zachodni, intense downpours on Monday led to localized flooding in the city of Racibórz.

Firefighters were called out hundreds of times across the area, mainly in the afternoon and overnight into Tuesday. In total, 379 incidents involving strong winds and heavy rain were reported.

Hundreds of emergency responses after violent storm

Most emergency responses were concentrated in the south of the country, including 179 in the Silesia region, 55 near the city of Kraków, and 46 in the southeastern region of Podkarpacie, according to the State Fire Service.

In Racibórz, the storm briefly paralyzed traffic, turning streets into torrents and causing localized flooding.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) reported that storms were moving from the west towards the northeast, with wind gusts of up to 60 kph and rainfall totals expected to reach 20 mm.
