Poland’s schools are set to teach students how to pack evacuation kits and recognize alarm sirens, but the changes may not reach classrooms for several years, daily Rzeczpospolita reported.

Poland’s Educational Research Institute has outlined a new core curriculum for the “education for safety” course, putting greater emphasis on risks linked to armed conflict, the newspaper said.

The updated programs are slated to begin next year alongside an education reform.

However, because only first and fourth grades will operate under the new plan in 2026—and the safety course is taught in eighth grade—students are unlikely to see the changes for some time.

According to Rzeczpospolita, the proposals now head to the Ministry of National Education for consideration.
