The demonstrations follow the interception by Israeli forces of ships from the Global Sumud Flotilla, which were carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, overnight. One of the vessels included Polish MP Franciszek Sterczewski among its passengers.
Israeli authorities have said that all participants in the mission are “safe” and will be transported to the port of Ashdod, located on Israel’s Mediterranean coast.
Protests in Warsaw turn dramatic as embassy targeted with red paint
The protests began on Thursday afternoon outside the Israeli embassy in Warsaw, and later spread to the courtyard of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the building was doused with red paint.

Similar demonstrations have been planned in other countries, including Italy, where trade unions have also announced a nationwide 24-hour general strike in both the public and private sectors, starting Thursday evening at 21:00 local time (19:00 GMT).
