According to Skytinel, a Polish astronomical monitoring network that tracks fireballs and meteoroids using specialized cameras across the country, the bright object recorded near the Polish–Ukrainian border was a meteoroid — a small space rock entering Earth’s atmosphere.

Analyses by Skytinel showed that the object entered the atmosphere at an angle of around 50° toward the north-northeast.

At an altitude of 32 km, the rock underwent a violent fragmentation. Observations suggest that a meteorite weighing less than 100 g may have fallen near the town of Ustyluh (Устилуг) in Ukraine.

The phenomenon was also seen by numerous witnesses and recorded on home security cameras and car dashcams.
