Rescue teams were forced to search on foot due to poor weather conditions and found the woman near the blue-marked trail.

Once conditions improved, her body was airlifted by helicopter to Starý Smokovec, a village in eastern Slovakia.

On Sunday, October 12, Slovak mountain rescuers also responded to two other incidents involving Polish tourists.

A 35-year-old woman became disoriented while navigating an unmarked winter route below Ľadový Štít in eastern Slovakia’s High Tatras and was safely reached by rescuers.

During the same operation, a Polish man fell and sustained a head injury. He and the previously rescued woman were transported by a Poland's TOPR helicopter to Zakopane in southern Poland.
