“We’re celebrating a major breeding success at Warsaw Zoo - five red kangaroos have been born! This is a truly special moment for our keepers and the entire zoo, as having so many little ones at once is quite rare,” the zoo staff wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

Three of the older joeys have already begun peeking out of their mothers’ pouches, while the two youngest remain inside, observing their surroundings with growing curiosity.

“And the oldest, Robbie, whom many of you already know, sometimes even reaches into… his aunt’s pouch for an extra sip of milk. Life in our kangaroo kindergarten is wonderfully lively!” the post added.

The zoo confirmed that all the mothers are healthy, and the father keeps a watchful eye over the family.

Newborn kangaroos, initially no larger than a bean, must climb unaided into their mother’s pouch, where they continue to develop for several months.

“Having five healthy joeys at the same time is a tremendous success for our keepers and proof that our kangaroos thrive here. We are very proud and happy that, following the news of Robbie’s birth, we can announce the four more kangaroos. Grow up healthy, little ones!” the zoo staff concluded.

The arrival of multiple joeys at once is rare and underscores the zoo’s successful breeding programme, offering a lively glimpse into the day-to-day life of its kangaroo family.
