Speaking at the launch of the ZBADAI project at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, Nowacka said the "digital revolution is already under way" and stressed the need for schools to adapt wisely to artificial intelligence.

The initiative sits within the government’s broader Digital Student programme, which is funding the rollout of around 16,000 AI and STEM laboratories in schools across the country.

While Digital Student focuses on providing infrastructure and equipment, ZBADAI is designed to help teachers and pupils make effective and responsible use of those technologies.

According to the minister, "equipment alone is not enough", adding that ZBADAI would focus on building understanding, critical thinking and practical skills.

The project will offer a free, five-week online AI course for teachers, covering topics such as how AI works, prompt engineering, multimedia creation, classroom applications, and ethical and legal issues.

Teachers and students from 200 schools will also participate in research projects focused on the use of AI, with support from scientists and experts.

The ZBADAI programme is run by the Copernicus Science Centre and funded by the Ministry of Education.
