Although Pizza Day is celebrated on different dates around the world, today is one of them.

According to Italian tradition, Pizza Day falls on January 17, the feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot, patron saint of bakers - a day honoring the craft, the oven, and centuries-old baking traditions, explain scholars of Italian studies at the University of Łódź in central Poland.

This region also has reason to celebrate when it comes to the Italian delicacy that has won culinary hearts around the world.

In Pabianice, a small town near the city of Łódź, there is a pizzeria whose pizza has been recognized in a prestigious international ranking.

Pizzeria Zielona Górka has previously been named the best place in the world for Neapolitan pizza by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), making it only the second non-Neapolitan pizzeria in history to receive the title.

Owner Jędrzej Lewandowski, an architect by training, spent two years perfecting his pizza-making through meticulous trial and error.

Zielona Górka has also appeared three times in the prestigious Top 50 Pizza World ranking, attracting visitors from across Poland and abroad.
