Polish agencies warn of possible Chinese rocket debris re-entry over northern Poland

A fragment of a Chinese ZQ-3 R/B rocket could re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere over northern Poland on Friday morning, 30 January 2026, the Government Centre for Security (RCB) has warned, citing the latest projections from the Polish Space Agency (POLSA).

Officials said the event is expected to occur between 9:09 a.m. and 1:21 p.m. local time, though timings may change as new data becomes available.

Potential overflight times over parts of the country include the Baltic coastal strip at around 9:54 a.m. and the Suwałki region in northeastern Poland at approximately 12:55 p.m.

RCB emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored in coordination with POLSA, and advised the public to follow official updates through POLSA’s communication channels.


The Polish Space Agency has updated that the rocket may pass over Poland from 1:13 p.m. to 1:40 p.m. National services and institutions are being kept dully informed, while POLSA continues to maintain ongoing communication and data sharing with the EU Space Surveillance and Tracking (EU SST) partnership.

Karol Wójcicki, a popular astronomy enthusiast in Poland who runs the social media profile “Z głową w gwiazdach” (“With Your Head in the Stars”), said that a rocket expected to deorbit over Poland on Friday has only a very small chance of passing above the country - around 0.3 per cent.

Wójcicki is providing live coverage as the rocket moves over Denmark, with projections indicating it may soon be visible over Poland.
