Poles are increasingly asking for online content about them to be removed from search results, the Rzeczpospolita daily reported on Monday, citing figures from Google.

Nearly 24,200 requests to delete webpages and links from Google search results were submitted by Poles in 2025, up from roughly 13,800 the previous year, the Google Transparency 2025 report shows, according to Rzeczpospolita.

Most applications concern the removal of links to false content from social media, news sites, recruitment platforms and business databases.

The requests involve the EU's "right to be forgotten," allowing people to remove search links to content that violates privacy or contains false information.

Poland now ranks seventh in the European Union for such requests. About half of the submissions to Google are approved.

While over 90 percent of requests still come from private individuals, there is growing use by companies, public institutions and politicians.

The scale of the problem is increasing with the development of artificial intelligence, which can replicate false content, including unlawful use of people's images, at greater speed and reach.

Businesses and prominent entrepreneurs are particularly affected.

President Karol Nawrocki recently vetoed a law implementing the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA), intended to strengthen platform accountability and increase moderation transparency, Rzeczpospolita noted.
