Prosecutors allege that Fr Jacek K., from the Sosnowiec diocese, committed nine sexual offences against minors and possessed child abuse imagery.
Seven people are recognised as victims in the case.
Proceedings are being held behind closed doors due to the nature of the charges.
The court approved a request to exclude the public, citing the privacy and welfare of those involved.
Jacek K. was brought to court from custody, where he has been held since his arrest in October 2024.
He has denied the allegations during the investigation.
If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
Allegations span 16 years
According to prosecutors, the alleged offences took place between 2008 and 2024 in locations where he carried out pastoral duties and taught religious education.
Investigators say he exploited victims’ vulnerability and, in some cases, a relationship of dependence.
One allegation has been classified as sexual violence.
The indictment, filed in December 2025, forms part of a wider investigation into alleged paedophilia within the Sosnowiec diocese.
Fr Jacek K. is one of four people charged in the case.
Prosecutors say the evidence includes witness testimony, medical records, materials from schools, and forensic, psychological and digital analyses.
