Asked which nations pose the biggest threat to world peace, 54 percent of respondents listed Russia, while 15 percent pointed to Israel and 14 percent to the United States.
China and Iran trailed far behind at 3.6 percent and 2.1 percent respectively, according to the survey by pollster CBOS for the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
Older voters remain pre-occupied with Moscow: 73 percent of those over 65 chose Russia, compared with just 36 percent in the 25-34 age bracket.
Perceptions reverse for Washington: 24 percent of 18-24-year-olds and 25 percent of 25-34-year-olds judged the United States a menace, versus fewer than 10 percent among seniors.
“It is mainly the young who now see Israel as a threat,” the newspaper noted, citing 27 percent agreement among respondents under 35 and under 10 percent among those above 55.
Political leanings also matter. Views on Russia cut across party lines, but 26 percent of left-wing and 18 percent of centrist voters named the United States, against only 6 percent on the right.
Israel was deemed risky by 27.5 percent of right-wingers, compared with 9 percent on the left and 6 percent in the center.
