 We love string (green) beans because they are delicious, and also low-calorie, rich in protein, fibre, vitamins C and E, trace elements including iron, but... when eaten raw they can be dangerous, because they contain a poison that causes blood clotting. 

 Agnieszka Bielawska and Elżbieta Krajewska consider the annual ranking of dangerous plants published by the Botanical Gardens Wandsbeck, Germany, which this year puts the beans in first place.
