More foreign workers in Poland: stats office

Around 1,139,400 foreign workers were employed in Poland at the end of October last year, 7.1 percent more than a year earlier, the national statistics office reported on Tuesday.

The number accounted for 6.9 percent of the total workforce and marked an increase of 0.9 percent from the previous month, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

These foreign workers hailed from more than 150 countries, with 67.3 percent coming from Ukraine, data showed.

Belarusians accounted for 10.5 percent of the foreign workforce, followed by Georgians at 2.2 percent, and Indians at 2.1 percent.

Colombians represented 1.7 percent of the total labour force, while Filipinos made up 1.3 percent.
