The bill, drafted by the education ministry, was passed by the lower house, the Sejm, after being modified by the upper house, the Senate.

The final vote came at the end of last month, with lawmakers adopting five of eight changes made by senators, state news agency PAP reported.

It now awaits the president’s signature to become law.

Officials say the measure is intended to improve how exams are organised and ensure the system runs more smoothly.

The legislation also sets new requirements for institutions seeking to administer language exams and updates rules governing examination boards and the awarding of certificates.

Interest in Polish language certification has been rising, particularly among foreigners planning to study, work or live in Poland, according to officials.

They say the reform is part of broader efforts to respond to this growing demand.
