The results were announced at a ceremony in Warsaw on Tuesday, where the highest-ranked institutions in the Perspektywy University Ranking 2026 received their awards.
Science and Higher Education Minister Marcin Kulasek said the ranking "raises the quality of education" across Poland's public, private, vocational and academic institutions.
He added that the country has "excellent universities", but still has work to do to catch up with European standards, saying "problems in Polish science" need to be clearly identified before they can be fixed.
Waldemar Siwiński, founder of the Perspektywy Education Foundation, which runs the ranking, said there probably is not a single student in Poland who has not checked it before choosing where to study, since it "makes it easier to compare options" even if people already have their own preferences.
The University of Warsaw's rector, Professor Alojzy Nowak, said his institution's main challenges were supporting its most talented students and addressing practical needs such as renovating student dormitories.
He noted that research, teaching and financial support needed to come together, since attracting international students and those from diverse backgrounds across Poland "requires this kind of support".
The Perspektywy ranking, published annually, covers three areas: academic universities, vocational institutions and individual degree courses.
