Polish ophthalmologist inducted into Retina Hall of Fame

Ophthalmologist Zofia Anna Nawrocka from Łódź, central Poland, has been inducted into the Retina Hall of Fame, a group of scientists and doctors who have made an outstanding contribution to the treatment of retinal disorders.

She is the second Pole to join this elite international society of ophthalmologists after Prof. Jerzy Nawrocki, her father, who entered the Retina Hall of Fame in 2018.

Nawrocka graduated from the Medical University of Łódź in 2005. She specialised in vitreoretinal surgery and optical coherence tomography under the guidance of her father.

She has published more than 130 papers mostly focused on novel retinal diagnostics and innovative surgical techniques.

In 2017, she was awarded the title of professor of medical sciences. She is a member of several prestigious scientific bodies, including the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the European Society of Retina Specialists.

She is the mother of two sons and a daughter.

Established in 2026, the Retina Hall of Fame promotes advancement in the treatment of retina disorders through education and research.
