The 89th Pulaski Day Parade took place on New York's Fifth Avenue on Sunday.
The parade is one of the largest public celebrations of Polish heritage in the United States.
This year's parade was held under the slogan “For Our Freedom and Yours.”
Participants came from Polish communities in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and other states, with guests from Poland also attending.
The procession included Polish-American organisations, members of the Polish Army Veterans Association in America (SWAP), Polish supplementary schools, scouts, student associations, musicians, dancers, athletes, artists, businesses and firefighters and police officers from New York and New Jersey.
Among those taking part were Andrzej Poczobut, a Polish minority activist from Belarus who is currently in the US, and Krzysztof Szczerski, Poland's ambassador to the UN.
Iwona Korga, head of the Józef Piłsudski Institute of America, was the parade's Grand Marshal. Karol Polejowski, deputy president of Poland's Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), served as Honorary Marshal.
The parade featured a traditional polonaise, decorated floats, cars, motorcycles and horse-drawn carriages, as well as Polish songs and music. A glider belonging to an association of Polish pilots in America also appeared.
The Consul General of Poland in New York, Mateusz Sakowicz, highlighted the event's historical significance, saying the presence of the Polish community on Fifth Avenue reminds New Yorkers and Americans of Polish history and Poles' contribution to the development of the United States.
He linked this to the 250th anniversary of US independence, saying the anniversary made the Polish presence and contribution particularly significant.
According to Sakowicz, the parade has a history of around 90 years, and its strength comes not only from the public display of Polish identity but also from participants' involvement in organising it and its grassroots character.
October is officially observed in the United States as Polish American Heritage Month.
