Pollster IBRiS said 43.6 percent of respondents were afraid a world war might erupt in the next few months, with 13.9 percent “definitely” worried and 29.7 percent “rather” worried.
A further 40.2 percent reported no such anxiety – 6.3 percent “definitely not” and 33.9 percent “rather not” – while 16.3 percent were undecided, according to the survey, commissioned by the onet.pl news website.
Women were more concerned than men: 47 percent feared war, 34 percent were unworried and 19 percent were unsure.
Among men, 40 percent expressed fear, 47 percent said they felt safe and 13 percent did not know.
IBRiS interviewed a representative sample of 1,070 adults on June 23–24.
The questionnaire asked respondents: “Do you fear a world war will break out in the coming months?”
