Jetson ONE, is a groundbreaking ultralight single-seat flying electric vehicle (eVTOL) - produced by a startup of the same name and designed by the company's self-taught Polish founder, Tomasz Patan. Its history started in Poland, although now the startup's HQ is in Palo Alto, USA, and its manufacturing and testing plant is in Italy's Arezzo.
Recently, Jetson ONEs were spotted flying over the Polish Pieniny mountains - as these futuristic electric aerial vehicles were tested by the Podhale branch of Poland's Mountain Volunteer Search and Rescue GOPR. During the trial run, Jetson ONE climbed from the Wdżar mountain (766 m above sea level) to the peak of the Lubań mountain (1,211 m) in less than 4 minutes, despite strong winds.
Since this ultralight, single-person vertical takeoff and landing vehicle can reach speeds of 100 km/h, and its design with eight propellers and an on-board computer allows for rapid movement even in difficult terrain, after the trials the mountain rescuers see it as the future of rapid interventions, especially in areas where quad bikes can't reach and it's too tight for helicopters to approach.
"This could be a revolution" - Jerzy Siodłak, head of Poland's Mountain Volunteer Search and Rescue GOPR, said after the tests.
Jetson ONE was designed in Poland and field-tested around the world between 2017 and 2021. Its first batch produced for the market sold out almost immediately in 2022. In 2023, the company announced that it had raised $15 million to fund its further development.
