Kornhauser-Duda began on August 6, 2015. According to the Presidential Chancellery, she took part in 3,646 activities over two terms. She initiated or joined 1,026 events—791 on her own and 235 with the president—of which 907 were in Poland and 119 abroad.
She granted patronage to more than 717 social and educational initiatives and supported 463 charity drives, focusing on education, disabilities, seniors and volunteering.
Her engagements included “National Reading,” “All of Poland Reads to Children,” meetings with academic competition finalists and efforts aiding people from Ukraine after Russia’s 2022 invasion.
Despite selected public and diplomatic appearances, Kornhauser-Duda largely avoided media activity. She rarely gave interviews—the last official press interview appeared in 2015—and her public speaking was mostly limited to official visits or state ceremonies.
She had no personal social media accounts and did not join current-affairs debates, concentrating instead on informal work, meetings with civil society groups and visits to schools and care institutions, the Chancellery said.
From Wednesday, Marta Nawrocka will become first lady. A spokesperson for the president-elect said she plans to focus on combating online hate, protecting children and youth in the digital sphere and expanding educational opportunity.
Nawrocka has worked 18 years at the National Revenue Administration on fuel market oversight and illegal gambling. She plans to take unpaid leave after assuming the role.
Ceremonies marking the transition are scheduled for Wednesday, August 6, in the lower house of the parliament and the Presidential Palace. Afterward, the new first lady will formally begin her duties.
