The team’s standout success came from Dawid Chudzik from Warsaw, who earned a gold medal. He had previously taken silver at last year’s competition in Brazil.
Silver medals this year went to Jasmina Nurović of Szczecin and Artur Ziółkowski of Bydgoszcz, while Kinga Wysocka from Gdynia claimed bronze.
In total, 300 students from more than 60 countries competed in the Olympiad, widely considered the most prestigious contest for young astronomy enthusiasts. Participants were tested on theoretical knowledge, data analysis, and observational skills.

Poland’s delegation also included Antoni Gazda of Dukla, supported by team leaders Waldemar Ogłoza and Grzegorz Kondrat. Nurović and Wysocka, both graduating seniors, will not be eligible to return next year, but Chudzik and Ziółkowski are expected to have another chance to compete.
Poland is a founding member of the Olympiad and has hosted the event twice in the Silesian region of south-western Poland. Each year, its national team is selected from winners of the country’s Astronomy Olympiad, organized by the Silesian Planetarium.
