The demonstrations follow the interception by Israeli forces of ships from the Global Sumud Flotilla, which were carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, overnight. One of the vessels included Polish MP Franciszek Sterczewski among its passengers.

Israeli authorities have said that all participants in the mission are “safe” and will be transported to the port of Ashdod, located on Israel’s Mediterranean coast.
