According to Gawkowski, President Nawrocki has failed on multiple fronts and “has undermined Poland not only in the eyes of Poles, but also abroad.”
Speaking at a press conference in Olsztyn, northeastern Poland, Gawkowski said Nawrocki had remained in “campaign mode” rather than rising above political divisions, and accused him of obstructing the government by blocking legislation and exceeding his constitutional role.
The deputy prime minister cited the president’s refusal to approve judicial appointments and officer promotions as examples.
Gawkowski added that the government had extended offers of cooperation, which Nawrocki had rejected, warning that the president’s conduct was damaging Poland’s international reputation.
President Nawrocki’s snus use and flood of vetoes spark outrage in Poland and abroad
Domestic outrage has also been fuelled by Nawrocki’s public behaviour, including an incident during an official visit to the UN, when he consumed snus, a form of smokeless tobacco, in view of others - echoing his actions during the presidential campaign.

Rising tensions between the centrist-liberal government and the President’s Office, backed by their rivals from right-wing populist Law and Justice (PiS) party, are also evident in Nawrocki’s blocking of legislation proposed by the Tusk administration.
To mark the 100-day milestone, the Civic Coalition launched a dedicated website, wetomat.pl, listing all of Nawrocki’s vetoes.
The platform invites the public to “Check what Karol Nawrocki has taken away from you,” highlighting that the president vetoed 13 bills during his first 100 days, including measures affecting energy prices, judicial appointments, water quality, and protections for children.
